Who is responsible
Box Buds is made by Waitz Games, based in the Netherlands. Under the GDPR we are the data controller for the data described here. You can reach us at contact@waitzgames.com.
At a glance
| What | Why | Who else sees it |

| Approximate location, derived from your IP address | To show ads that are legal and relevant in your country | Unity LevelPlay, ironSource, Unity Ads |
| App events, device model, OS version, country, app version | To see which levels are too hard and what to fix | Unity Analytics |

What we never collect
We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or date of birth. We do not collect precise GPS location, your contacts, your photos, your microphone or your camera. There are no accounts and no sign-in. We never sell your personal data.
Ads
Box Buds is free and paid for by ads. We do not pick the ads ourselves. Each time one is due, Unity LevelPlay holds an auction between the ad networks we have switched on — currently ironSource and Unity Ads — and the ad you see comes from whichever one wins. If we switch another network on, we will name it here and move the effective date at the top of this page.
To do that, all of them receive your device's advertising ID, your IP address (which tells them roughly what country you are in), and information about the ads you were shown and interacted with.
Depending on your choices, ads may be personalised — chosen using a profile built from your activity across apps — or non-personalised, which are based only on rough location and the content of the game.
Your choices about ads
- In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, the game asks for your consent the first time you play. You can change your answer at any time from the privacy option in the game's settings.
- Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android under Settings › Privacy › Ads. Deleting it stops personalised ads across every app on the device.
- You will still see ads if you opt out of personalisation — they just will not be based on a profile of you.
Analytics
We use Unity Analytics to understand how the game is played — which levels people quit on, how long a session lasts, whether an update broke something. This is tied to a randomly generated app instance ID, not to your identity.
Our legal basis for using your data
- Consent — for advertising and analytics where the law requires it, which you give or refuse in the prompt shown when you first play, and can withdraw at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for keeping the game working, preventing fraud and abuse, and fixing crashes.
Who your data is shared with
We share data only with the providers that make the game work:
- Unity LevelPlay — decides which of the ad networks below fills each ad slot.
- ironSource — serves the ads and decides which ad to show.
- Unity Ads — serves the ads and decides which ad to show.
- Unity Analytics — records how the game is used so we can improve it.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond what is described above.
Where your data goes
Our providers are based in, or transfer data to, the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area. Those transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or on an adequacy decision such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
We do not run our own servers and we do not keep our own copy of your data. Our providers retain the data described above under their own retention schedules, which are set out in the privacy notices linked above. Game progress lives on your device and is gone when you uninstall.
Deleting your data
Box Buds has no accounts, and we keep no copy of your data on our own servers. There are two ways to delete what is held:
- In the game, instantly — open the privacy option on the menu screen and switch Analytics off. That stops collection and asks Unity Analytics to delete the analytics data already recorded for your installation. You can switch it back on later; no analytics data is recorded while it is off. This toggle covers analytics only — ads are the separate toggle in the same dialog, and it changes how ads are targeted rather than stopping the advertising ID being read.
- By email — write to contact@waitzgames.com and we will action the request within 30 days. Say which game you are writing about, since each of our games holds its own data.
Advertising data sits with our ad partners against your device's advertising ID rather than against you by name, so it is deleted from the device side: Settings › Privacy › Ads › Delete advertising ID. That covers every app on the device, not just this one.
Your game progress and settings never leave your device in the first place. Uninstalling Box Buds deletes them.
Children
Box Buds is a general audience game. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, email us at contact@waitzgames.com and we will delete it.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to access your data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these, email contact@waitzgames.com.
You can also complain to your data protection authority. In the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. Use the same email address, or turn off personalised ads as described above.
Changes
If we change what the game collects, we will update this page and move the effective date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the game.
